Jump Drives and Coffee Stains released!

Good news from the grease-stained end of the galaxy: Jump Drives and Coffee Stains is officially out now. šŸš€ā˜•

This is book two in the Spaceship Mechanic series, which means Rix is making more questionable repair decisions, and burning through rolls of duct tape on things that absolutely should not be held together by duct tape. And as a major value proposition, this story proposes at least one important question—is there anything important that should be attempted before the first cup of coffee.

In the Spaceship Mechanic series, I’ve taken an artistic leap. I’m weary of grinding military science fiction and have taken a break from that. To that end, I’m leaning into the lighter side of spacefaring life. The stakes are still real, the ships are still temperamental, but the mood is very much ā€œwe’ll laugh about this later… probably.ā€ I’m all about the blue-collar problem-solving and sarcastic banter established in Boltguns and Duct Tape. Jump Drives and Coffee Stains keeps that toolbox open and the witty banter front and center.

This story sets the mood for science fiction that doesn’t take itself too seriously, where the jump drives are finicky and the coffee is sacred. Jump Drives and Coffee Stains is ready for launch. Just don’t ask the mechanic what’s holding that panel in place.

As to what’s coming next? The answer is at least one more in the Spaceship Mechanic series. I’m 50% through the rough draft for the third installment. And if Jump Drives and Coffee Stains does anywhere near as well as Boltguns and Duct Tape, we’ll keep this series going for a while.

Additionally, I’ve found more time in my week. Currently, I write on wed-fri, with a goal of writing two chapters each week. Self-employed, I’ve had to add discipline to my work so that I know if I’m producing enough. Over the years, I’ve discovered that 2 chapters each week is enough to put food on the table and gas in the car. And where I consider wed-fri sacred work days, Monday and Tuesday have become play days, where I can experiment.

And experiment, I have. I’m very close to having two new novels in my LitRPG universe, in addition to Drakon Prince. You may have read the novel Drakon Prince, but it’s currently unavailable. That’s because I have recently reverted rights from the publisher to me. As a result, I’m planning a fourth novel, a sequel to Drakon Prince. My objective is to finish all four of these novels and then release them on a fast schedule, possibly one per month. As I get closer to this goal, I’ll provide updates.

For now, I’d certainly appreciate it if you’d grab a copy of Jump Drives and Coffee Stains. If you like the story, please leave a review. It’s still the best way to help support the working I’m doing.
